Sports Performance

Sports Performance courses provide students with the tools to become the best version of themselves, and encourage them to find ways to achieve a healthier lifestyle. We recommend Sports Performance to any highly-motivated students interested in improving their personal well-being - not just athletes!

All Sports Performance courses are worth three credits, and offered on an every-other-day basis.

Sports Performance 15

Prerequisite: None
Credits: 3

This course is perfect for students who want to challenge themselves, because its goal is to enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding:

  • Sport
  • Activity
  • Sports psychology
  • Training
  • Nutritional science
  • Athletic development
  • Leadership

Through a combination of theory and practical exposure to these areas, students will be provided with a multitude of learning opportunities, and take part in:

  • Crossfit
  • Metabolic conditioning
  • Muscular strength and endurance training
  • Yoga

Students will also have the chance to experience learning opportunities outside of school, such as firefighter training and boxing.

Sports Performance 25

Prerequisite: Sports Performance 15
Credits: 3

This course builds on the knowledge and skills learned in Sports Performance 15, and allows students to improve their understanding of training principles and sports psychology. In addition, Sports Performance 25 offers a more precise focus on student-athlete development.

Students will also have the chance to experience learning opportunities outside of school, such as attending high performance training facilities and attempting an official ninja warrior obstacle course.
