The E.O.E program at Memorial Composite High School is an excellent student-centered program where students learn to challenge themselves mentally, physically, socially and emotionally.

Courses

Environment Outdoor Education 10 
Prerequisite: None
Credits: 5

In Environment Outdoor Education 10 (EOE 10), students will utilize the great outdoors as a classroom and incorporate many skills to learn how to live an active and healthy lifestyle. The focus of these courses is on building outdoor skills such as leadership, excursion, trip planning, wilderness navigation, survival, outdoor cooking and utilizing those skills both in the classroom and the outdoors. Excursions are tailored to the seasons (canoeing, backpacking, backcountry skiing, climbing, mountain biking, etc.).

Environment Outdoor Education 20 
Prerequisite: EOE 10
Credits: 5

Students will build on concepts and skills developed in EOE 10. Environmental and outdoor topics will be covered in more depth and the expectations for students’ proficiency in skills, knowledge, and activities will be increased. Students will participate in a variety of outdoor activities and demonstrate skills to live an active and healthy lifestyle. This course will feature an outdoor wilderness excursion that students will work towards in terms of planning, skills, and preparedness. Students will also have the opportunity to gain some certifications in or resulting from this course (I.E. First Aid/CPR & Boating Safety). 

Environment Outdoor Education 30 
Prerequisite: EOE 20 
Credits: 5

The Environmental Outdoor Education 30 course will build on concepts covered in EOE 20. This course will foster students' awareness and contributions in regards to connections to the natural world, as a foundation for the development of responsible community members. This course is designed to help students develop and demonstrate leadership attitudes, skills and knowledge in the planning and implementation of activities in the outdoors. The focus of this course will be on building outdoor leadership skills, excursion skills, guiding skills, cooking skills, navigational skills, and wildlife awareness/management skills and utilizing those skills both in the classroom and the outdoors.  Excursions are tailored to the seasons (canoeing, backpacking, backcountry skiing, climbing, mountain biking, etc.).
