Work Experience is a program authorized by the Province of Alberta where students are placed with employers to become familiar with the working world.
In addition to learning new skills and tasks, the on-site job experiences provide students with an opportunity to develop and enhance transferable work-related skills, establish a work record, and earn an employer reference that may help them obtain future employment.
The student is enrolled in Work Experience 15, 25, or 35 depending on their grade level, level of experience, and the growth and development taking place at the work site.
With the cooperation of the Off-Campus Education Coordinator and the employer, students may earn up to 30 high school credits in Work Experience, 15 of which can be used towards meeting the 100 credit requirement for a high school diploma.
Students must work a minimum of 75 hours (3 credits) to get any credits. Students can earn 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 credits in each of the three work experience courses (Work Experience 15, 25, and 35).
